A stove has four kinds of burner, and each one fails in its own way: gas, electric coil, radiant under glass and induction. Appliance Masters repairs all four, on ranges and on separate cooktops, in South Florida and Tampa Bay. You get the price before the repair and a written warranty after it.

Start with what the burner is. A gas burner needs a spark, a clean port and a switch behind the knob. A coil burner plugs into a socket that burns out before the coil does. A radiant burner sits under a glass top with a limiter that shuts it off when the glass gets too hot. An induction burner is an electronic board that heats the pan and not the glass, and it refuses to work with cookware it cannot detect. Near the coast, salt and humidity reach the spark electrodes and the switches first, which makes a clicking burner the typical fault of a stove in a beach condo.

Common Stove Issues

Gas burner clicks but does not light

Check that the burner cap sits flat and the ports are not blocked by a boil-over. If the spark is weak or jumps to the wrong place, the electrode is cracked or the spark module is failing. If every burner clicks at once and will not stop, one of the switches behind the knobs is wet or shorted.

Coil burner that stays cold

Swap the coil with one of the same size from another position. If the problem moves with the coil, the coil has failed. If it stays, the socket under it is burned or the switch behind the knob has opened. A blackened socket is replaced together with the coil.

Burner that runs only on high

The switch that cycles the burner on and off has stuck closed, so the element gets full power at every setting. Turn the burner off at the breaker if it will not switch off at the knob. The switch is replaced, not the element.

Glass top burner that cuts out

A radiant element that heats and then goes dark has a failing limiter or a break in the ribbon. Both are part of the element assembly under the glass. A cracked glass top is a separate matter: stop using the stove, because the crack lets spills reach live parts, and have the glass replaced.

Induction burner that does not detect the pan

Try a pan that a magnet sticks to. If the burner still flashes and shuts off, or the cooktop shows an error code, the fault is in the induction board, the sensor under the glass or the cooling fan. We test the boards before ordering one.

What You Get With Every Visit

A burner fault is usually one small part, and finding which one is the job. Appliance Masters is family-owned, names the price before the repair begins and covers the work with a written warranty. The diagnostic is free with the repair.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do all my burners click when I turn on one?▼

On most gas stoves one spark module fires every electrode together, so that is normal while the knob is held at light. Clicking that continues after the flame is lit means moisture or a failing switch.

Can a cracked glass cooktop be repaired?▼

The glass is replaced, not patched. Until then the stove should stay off, since liquid can pass through the crack to the electrical parts below.

Do you repair induction cooktops?▼

Yes. Induction boards, sensors, fans and touch controls, on built-in cooktops and on ranges.

I smell gas at the stove. What now?▼

Do not light anything and do not use switches. Leave, and call the gas company or 911 from outside. Once the supply is safe, we repair the valve, the burner or the connection that caused it.

Is the stove worth fixing if one burner is out?▼

Almost always. One burner is one element, one switch or one igniter, and the rest of the stove is unaffected.

Andy from Appliance Masters did an outstanding job repairing our Wolf oven and Miele range hood. He was extremely diligent, very knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with—polite, professional, and thorough. He took the time to explain what was going on and made sure everything was working perfectly before he left. It’s refreshing to find a technician who truly takes pride in his work. We will absolutely be calling Andy again for any future appliance repairs and highly recommend him.

Andy offers a service I will get again and again. A year ago he fixed my Wolf Convection Oven door. Door won’t closed and broken inside, I thought I had to get a new and voalá he impeccably (yes! he wears professional gloves as he works) serviced it and feels and work like new. Last week he came to repair 2 faulty electrical boards under my German Miele induction cooktop. I’m glad Andy came, he changed parts, serviced my unit and I did not need to spend 4000 on a new cooktop. If you look for fair and professional service for hi end appliances, Andy is your guy!

I cannot speak more highly of Andy and his team. After a sub zero gasket install on our freezer that didn’t fully seal, Andy followed up with us multiple times, coming out 2-3 more times to ensure that the issue was fully resolved. He was responsive, professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommend and will use him again!
